Garden Treasures

My Garden
Many flowers growing free
Glorious colours for all to see
Purple, orange, yellow, white
crimson and scarlet - a beautiful sight!
Pretty flowers growing free
Buds and blossoms for you and me
Dancing gaily in the sun
A joyous soght for everyone.
Some are big and some are small
Some do fade and some do fall
The sweet fragrances I can tell
Are from flowers which I smell...........

Dear Suzie,
How are you? I hope you are in the best of health.
Guess what? I have just had the most wonderful time in Pulau Langkawi. I went there last week with my aunt Martha. We took a taxi to Kuala Perlis. From there, we took a ferry, across to the island. On reaching the island, aunt Martha’s friend, Mrs Lee, came to pick us up. I was rather disappointed that I didn’t show my disappointment. I wouldn’t dare to offend my aunt or her friend.
We were guests at Mrs Lee’s small but comfortable terrace house which was just 3 km from Tanjung Rhu. Sunset at Tanjung Rhu was just breathtaking. The golden sun, partially hidden behind the distant hills, bathed the sky in bright orange hue. The clear bluish-green water beat across the soft sandy beach while trees swayed to the rhythm of the cool gentle breeze. There we had a picnic until the pale moon rose in the sky. I could say I was on paradise island when I went for a moonlight swim.
The three days simply sped by. Mrs. Lee, our gracious host, filled our days with shopping, sumptuous meals, boat rides to other neighbouring islands and jungle-trekking to a place called the Seven Wells. Well, a city slicker like me got my Fear Factor type of why they didn’t bother aunt Martha. Hmmm!
I’ii stop here for now. Just wait till you see those shots I took with my video camera. Till then, cheerio.
Yours sincerely
William

What is pollution

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

Air pollution from World War II production.
Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into an environment that causes instability, disorder, harm or discomfort to the ecosystem i.e. physical systems or living organisms .[1] Pollution can take the form of chemical substances, or energy, such as noise, heat, or light energy. Pollutants, the elements of pollution, can be foreign substances or energies, or naturally occurring; when naturally occurring, they are considered contaminants when they exceed natural levels. Pollution is often classed as point source or nonpoint source pollution. The Blacksmith Institute issues annually a list of the world's worst polluted places. In the 2007 issues the ten top nominees are located in Azerbaijan, China, India, Peru, Russia, Ukraine and Zambia.

Potato People - character that you like most

Question:

Based on the novel "Potato People" describe the personality and behaviour of one main character in the story that you like most.

Answer:
I like Marie, the Gypsie girl, in the "Potato People". I admire her courage and independence. She was able to take care of herself even though the situation in Ireland was full of danger and bleakness.

For example, she had courage and wit to sneak into a mansion to steal food for survival. Apart from that, I especially like her cheerful and did not dwell on her predicament. Even Patrick fell for her optimistic outlook of the world. In the story, we read how Patrick was fascinated with Marie's laughter as he had not heard anybody laughing for a long time. Thus, Marie brings a sense of cheerfulness and liveliness to the novel.

WAYS TO TAKE CARE OF THE ENVIRONMENT

Our environment is often taken for granted. When the environment is polluted, our health is also affected. In order to maintain the clean environment, each and every one of us must play our part to preserve it. There are many simple things that all of us can do.

The first thing that we can do is to cut down on waste. Certain objects that we consider rubbish can actually be reused. For example, plastic bottles can be used to store drinking water. Likewise, jam jars make good storage containers for things like dried foodstuff, chilli paste and powdered stuff. Another way is to recycle. Instead of simply throwing trash into garbage bin, seperate the disposable items into plastic, glass, metal and paper products. Then bring these sorted items to a recycling centre or a collection [point. You can also use both sides of paper before sending it for recycling. Finally, always try to buy recycclable products instead of non-recyclable ones. In this way, we help to promote recycling.
Another way to protect the environment is to bring along our own bag when we go shopping. Put the purchased items into the shopping bag and refuse the shopkeeper's or sales assistant's offer of their plastic bags. In this way, we help to promote recycling.

Water is a very precious natural resource as it is becoming more difficult to find truly clean water. Thus, we should not waste it. never let water run off taps unnecessarily. Instead of letting tap flow when brushing teeth, use a glass to gargle from. We can even help adults reduce the unnecessary wastage of water by asking them to wash their cars using pails of water instead of a hose.

My last point is on energy conservation. We can all do our part by ensuring that lights and fans are switched off when not in use. Here again, our parents can be advised ti install energy-saving bulbs that use less energy but give out the same amount of light.

Observing such simple habits and procedures will go a long way towards protecting our planet's natural resources and preserving our environment. As a result, we will lead happier and helthier lives.

The Value of Friendship

DEFINITION OF FRIENDSHIP

Friendship is the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring all right out just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful friendly hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping and, with a breath of comfort, blow the rest away.

The True Meaning Of Friendship

There is no greater blessing than an understanding friend,
who's there in times of trouble and on whom we can depend.
A friend who knows our every mood And brightens cloudy days,
One who's slow to criticize But quick to offer praise.
There is no greater blessing Than a friend who always cares,
One who will remember us In daily thoughts and prayers.

Value of friendship

•The value of true friendship is infinite and priceless. Nothing can compare or ever replace the genuine, caring connection between two people who not only understand, but want only the very best of all things in life for the other. It is a gift, it is a treasure.
•A deep sustaining, timeless friendship is rare and at times can feel difficult to find, maintain, or believe in. But, the more that you believe in yourself, the more love you can give to yourself, the more genuine connections you will be able to attract, manifest, and hold onto.

The right way to appreciate our friend

lFriends Are Like Angels
Our friends are like angels,
Who brighten our days.
In all kinds of wonderful,
Magical ways.
Their thoughtfulness comes,
As a gift from above.
And we feel we're surrounded,
By warm, caring love.
Like upside-down rainbows,
Their smiles bring the sun.
And they fill ho-hum moments,
With laughter and fun.
Friends are like angels,
Without any wings.
Blessing our lives,
With the most precious thing

Friendship Poem

In the stormStands
the white rosetumultuous
wavesof destruction abound her
Yet tall is the white rosestrong in the face
Of the sensed doom around her
And she does not bow down
Pure is the white rose
In the compost earthgrowing eternal
strengthin the nights that so hurt
